Driver Experience Days

Re-live the golden age of steam and realise your dream of driving a steam engine at Statfold Country Park!

You will receive a warm welcome from your instructor here followed by a safety briefing and information. You are then shown to the footplate where full instructions on the driving controls, firing techniques and other locomotive operating requirements are given. Then, taking turns with the other participants, you will become the driver and fireman.

How much is the experience?

 

Driver Experience Days are from £650 per person. The experience will have a maximum of 3 people.

Please note:

 

Driving a steam engine is physically demanding and can be hard work. You will need to be at least 16 years of age, in good health and reasonably fit since you will be climbing up and down from the footplate quite a few times during the day, as well as shovelling coal and operating heavy controls.

​

Please let us know if the person taking the course has any disability, medical or learning conditions that we may need to be aware of. 

 

Statfold Country Park reserve the right to reschedule any experience if the minimum amount of participants per day hasn’t been met.
