KEY STAGE 3
Our education programme is tailored to meet the national curriculum, whilst our interactive sessions and exciting activities on site will ensure that our young visitors will have fun during their visit!
We cater for children from Foundation to Key Stage 3 - We can tailor any workshop to meet your needs and teaching requirements. Due to the changes in the National Curriculum, Statfold is reviewing the sessions we deliver to reflect the changing needs. If you have any specific requirements please talk to us as we may be able to adapt or tailor our current provision to meet your needs. We also welcome any suggestions for new sessions.
Your visit will start at 10.30am and last until approximately 2pm. Your bespoke workshop will last between 45 minutes and an hour-and-a-half, depending on which visit you are taking part in.
Pupils will get to finish off their day with a ride on a steam train or our vintage tram (the last of it's kind), which offers a range of child-friendly souvenirs and hot and cold drinks. We also offer a have a large indoor lunch area for you to use for packed lunches along with plenty of toilet facilities. Teachers are welcome to tea and coffee at anytime on-site.
MOTION AND FORCE – EXPERIMENTING ON THE RAILWAY
Students can use formulae to work out the average speed of a Narrow Gauge engine. They will also analyse which forces are in action on the railway, commenting on balance and impact of forces on the locomotive in action. At Statfold you can engage with the scientific aspects within this environment. Students will present their observations and data using appropriate methods, including tables and graphs, showing how they have used and devised simple equations.

WORLDWIDE STEAM LOCOS
Here at Statfold we have lots of locomotives from around the world! Use our self-led worksheets to work out the continents where our locomotives have worked and seas which our locos potentially crossed on their international travels. Closer to home, look at the United Kingdom and tell us which of our locomotives worked where. See the differences in locomotives that worked in hot and cold parts of the world, and what industries are locos worked in!
