A Summer Spectacle of Steam like no other...
Joining the resident locomotives at Statfold will be a very special visiting locomotive never seen in steam in the UK before... Fowler 15513 of 1920!
It was one of a series of six 0-4-2 side tank locos built for the Sena Sugar Estates in Mozambique by John Fowler & Co of Leeds. Sena was a large Fowler customer for both railway locomotives and ploughing engines.
Originally built to 50cm gauge for the Mopeia mill, it was later converted to 2 foot when moved to the Morromeu and then Luabo mills. It was one of a large number of locomotives brought back to the UK from Mozambique in 2000.
At this event, you can see more working steam locomotives in one hour than anywhere else in the UK. Statfold has a huge variety of rare, unique and historic locomotives from various manufacturers worldwide. Don't worry, we have dedicated photography points for you to capture these amazing engines. That's not all, along with the locomotives we also have freight trains throughout the day!
If you love seeing the locomotives out on the track then you're sure to enjoy our double-track mainline where you can experience parallel running and trains passing each other.
Statfold’s unique site is a great day out for steam enthusiasts and families alike, with 4 gauges of railway, the only Narrow Gauge Roundhouse Museum in the UK and a variety of family activities.
As well as our unique railway you can also enjoy our recently opened Mease Valley Light Railway, the world-renowned locomotive museum, the Hunslet Archive will be open to see original locomotive drawings, Statfold Engineering will have open workshops to explore throughout the day and more.
Plus, our friends at Transport Museum Wythall will be providing a free bus service from Tamworth to Statfold and return. See the timetable here.
